Computer Classes

Hurstville Library provides a wide range of computer classes at Hurstville and Penshurst Libraries and cost $5 (non refundable) plus online booking fee (total: $5.90) unless indicated as a free class. Bookings are essential as spaces are limited.

Computer Basics
Need a place to start learning computer skills? Come to the library and join other beginners with easy, slow paced exercises to help build your mouse and keyboard skills. No previous computer knowledge required. Classes are available in English and Mandarin/Cantonese.

eBooks @ your Library NEW!  Free
Bring your iPad or tablet and learn how to download eBooks, music and magazines from the library’s collection. Participants need to have their own device that is enabled for Wi-Fi or 3G.

Family History for Beginners
A beginner’s guide to searching your family history using online library resources including Ancestry Library.

Learn how to search the library catalogue, renew and reserve items online on a library computer or your mobile device enabled for Wi-Fi or 3G .Discover more about what is happening at the library!

Internet for Beginners
In this class you will learn what the Internet is, how to navigate and find information using search engines, directories and URLs, as well as how to print and store information. Classes are available in English and Mandarin/Cantonese.

Introduction to Email
Email is a great way to communicate with friends and family. This class will cover how to set up an email account and how to send/receive emails. Classes are available in English and Mandarin/Cantonese.

iPad Basics
Learn the basics of using an iPad. Our lesson includes finding and installing apps, searching the Internet and changing settings. Participants need to bring their own iPad. Two (2) library iPads are available for interested participants who do not have an iPad.  Classes are available in English and Mandarin/Cantonese.

Shopping OnlineNEW!
A beginner’s guide to shopping on the Internet. This class looks at good shopping sites, finding the best prices and how to shop safely online.

Word Basics

Learn how to create, edit, print & save documents and apply some basic formatting skills using Microsoft Word 2007.

For all computer classes (except Computer Basics and iPad Basics) basic computer skills are needed e.g. be able to use a mouse/keyboard. For further information call 9330 6142.
